Kraft Recalls White Baker's Chocolate Due to Salmonella Concerns

Kraft Foods Inc. issued a voluntary recall of its 6 oz. Baker's Premium White Chocolate Baking Squares (6 oz.), because of concerns that the the chocolate might be contaminated with Salmonella bacteria. No other varieties of Baker's White Chocolate or any other Baker's products sold in the United States are impacted by this recall. The possibility of Samonella contamination was indicated after testing by the Food and Drug Administration detected the presence of Salmonella in some packages of the chocolate. The product was distributed nationwide.

The affected products have a UPC Code 0043000252200 and four best when used by dates:
31 MAR 2008 XCZ
01 APR 2008 XCZ
02 APR 2008 XCZ
03 APR 2008 XCZ

Symptoms of foodborne illness caused by Salmonella include fever, diarrhea and abdominal cramps. In people with poor underlying health or weakened immune systems, Salmonella can invade the bloodstream and cause life-threatening infections.

Consumers can contact the company at 1-800-310-3704 with any questions they may have or to request reimbursement for purchased product.
