On March 19, 2008, the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission announced that along with Salton, Inc., a voluntary recall has been issued for certain toaster oven models sold between 2000 and 2007. While no injuries have been reported, the toaster can turn on without bread in the slots and ignite items placed on top of it, posing a fire hazard. As an aside, QVC, a home shopping channel, recalled 13,000 similar models in December 2007.
